Quick Reference Trouble shoot Guide

Super Safety & MARC – Troubleshooting Reference

1. No Forced Reset Occurring (Acts Like Semi-Auto)

Cause 1 — Incorrect Bolt Carrier Group (BCG)

  • BCG is not M16 cut (semi-auto carriers will NOT work)

Resolution:

  • Use a true M16-cut BCG.

Cause 2 — Incorrect Buffer System Tuning

  • System is over-gassed or under-gassed

  • Bolt speed not appropriate for forced-reset timing

Resolution:

  • Start with an H2 buffer

  • Adjust buffer weight up or down depending on behavior

  • Suppressed rifles often require heavier buffers

  • Under-gassed builds may need lighter buffers or more gas

Cause 3 — Lower Receiver Has a High Shelf

  • High-shelf lowers prevent the lever(s) from traveling rearward

  • This can completely prevent reset or cause jams

Resolution:

  • Use a low-shelf lower

  • If using a high-shelf lower:

    • Material must be removed (Dremel or gunsmith)

    • This does not affect strength or function

    • Shelf originally exists only to prevent FA parts installation

2. Bolt Getting Stuck to the Rear

Cause — BCG Over-Travel in the Buffer Tube

  • BCG moves too far rearward

  • Upward pressure from reset levers causes it to bind

Resolution:

  • Add 1–2 quarters behind the buffer spring

  • This limits over-travel and prevents hang-up

3. Strings of 2–5 Round Bursts

Cause — System Out of Tune

  • Over-gassed rifle

  • Buffer too light

  • Excess bolt speed

Resolution:

  • Increase buffer weight (H3 etc)

  • Use a heavier action spring

  • Reduce gas if adjustable

  • Test again — almost always tuning-related

4. Gun Cycles Slowly / Feels “Chuggy”

Cause — Under-Gassing or Too-Heavy Buffer

Resolution:

  • Use a lighter buffer

  • Increase gas flow

  • Ensure gas block is aligned and port is not obstructed

5. Installation Errors (Super Safety & MARC)

Super Safety Installation:

  • Detent must be installed correct direction

  • Cam with detent slot must be above the detent

  • Lever tail must face rearward

MARC Installation:

  • Lever tail must also face rearward

  • When attaching selector lever:

    • Pointer on selector must point the same direction as the tick mark on the drum on the opposite side

6. Super Safety Switch Moves From FRT to Semi During Fire

Cause — Weak Detent Tension or Incorrect Detent

Resolution:

  • Confirm detent is installed correctly

  • Increase selector detent tension by:

    • Adding a ball bearing / small object under detent spring

    • Stretching detent spring slightly

    • Lightly rounding a standard detent with sandpaper to optimize engagement

7. 9mm Blowback Builds (Special Requirements)

Cause — Excess Bolt Material and Simple Blowback Action

Resolution:

  • Use a very heavy buffer (8–10 oz) unless using a sliding-mass 9mm BCG

  • Remove some material from the internal weight of the BCG for clearance of the moving lever.

  • Blowback guns are inherently more violent and must be tuned aggressively

8. AR-10 Platforms

Cause — Lever Geometry Incompatible

Resolution:

  • AR-10s will NOT work with current lever design

  • Requires a different lever pattern entirely

9. Geissele Trigger Compatibility

Cause — Smaller Hammer Head Allows Lever to Wedge Under Hammer

Resolution:

  • Use Overtravel stop for small hammers

  • Or use alternative market versions with same function

  • Prevents levers from getting trapped under hammer head

About Corn Gunworks LLC

A new chapter built on experience, integrity, humility, Godliness, and customer-focused service.

Corn Gunworks LLC was founded by Patrick Corn as a new chapter in the firearms industry, built from experience, hard lessons, and a commitment to doing things the right way.

After years of working directly with firearm accessories, product sourcing, dealer relationships, customer support, and day-to-day business operations, one thing became clear: customers deserve honesty, reliability, and real support. Corn Gunworks was created around those values.

This business is not about hype or shortcuts. It is about offering quality products, giving clear information, and standing behind the people who support us. Corn Gunworks is built on integrity, humility, and Godliness — a commitment to conduct business in a way that honors God, treats people fairly, and does what is right even when it costs more time, effort, or money.

At Corn Gunworks, our focus is on firearm accessories, components, and related services that meet a practical standard: they need to work, they need to make sense, and they need to be backed by service customers can count on.

We are proud to serve individual customers, dealers, builders, and enthusiasts who value straightforward business and dependable products.

Corn Gunworks LLC is new, but the foundation behind it is experience, integrity, humility, Godliness, and a commitment to earning trust one customer at a time.
